Hailing from Georgia, Tyler Carter is most known for his vocals in metalcore band ISSUES.  The ISSUES front man released his long-awaited solo EP- Leave Your Love, which has been chosen as one of Alternative Press’s “Most Anticipated” of this year. With Justin Timberlake type bump and grind and remnants of Nick Jonas style circa 2014, Carter’s EP is sure to find its way on every R&B lover’s lists of must listens.

“Sophisticated” and “Leave Your Love” are smooth and sensual with hints at slight electronic beats.  Both tracks contain harmonies and riffs that would fit perfectly on a Timberlake track. The style and format of the first two tracks are a great reflection on Carter’s solo talent and style.

With a Macklemore type spoken-word intro, “So Slow” gives the EP a unique spin. The slow, slick synth beat creates an excruciatingly slow pace for the chorus that is quite fitting for the aptly named track.

“Georgia”, the lead single, has Nick Jonas type falsettos and funky beats. The song explodes to the chorus where Carter’s ISSUES vocals are reflected. Spin featured the track in a recent Single’s Mix calling it a, "dreamy synth-soul eruption, which marries James Blake sonics with Justin Timberlake hooks."

“Tears On The Runway,” featuring Chicago singer/songwriter Nylo, adds creativity to the album. The combination of both voices creates a treat for the listener in the way that the R&B sounds are intensified.

Finally, “Find Me” is probably the most true R&B track on the EP. With explicit lyrics and intense drum synth, this track creates a feeling of intensity and passion. The intensity of the song is amplified in the lyrics “you can find me at the edge of the world. You can find me when you’re falling apart.” This is a great track that does its job creating a specific feeling in the listener.

The Leave Your Love EP was a perfect showcase of talent for Tyler Carter. Listeners will find themselves satisfied with this highly anticipated piece of art. With the contemporary R&B genre taking the charts by storm, Tyler Carter’s contribution will be a perfect addition. I think that both ISSUES fans and music gurus will be pleasantly surprised at Carter’s long-awaited side project.
